For women in Barrington, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Crystal Lake, or Algonquin who are disappointed with the outcome of a previous breast augmentation procedure, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Renee Burke can help you achieve your desired goals with breast revision surgery in Barrington, IL.
Revisions to Prior Breast Surgery
Revision of prior breast surgery may be desired or recommended for a number of reasons, including:
Your body has changed and you desire changes in the shape, size or appearance of your breasts.
Prior procedures and the visible or physical result did not meet your expectations.
You’ve experienced some complication, such as capsular contracture, visible rippling of the implant, double bubble (breast tissue sags around the implant), improper implant placement (too far apart or too close together, called symmastia).
If you are unhappy with your breast augmentation results and would like to replace your breast implants with a different type (for example, trade saline for silicone) or size, Dr. Burke can perform an elective implant exchange. During the surgery, she may use a surgical mesh such as GalaFLEX® to support the implants and act as an internal bra.
Your Revision Breast Augmentation Consultation
Dr. Burke understands the frustration you experience when faced with the desire or need for breast revision. During your consultation, she will address your specific goals, concerns, and expectations. These are carefully evaluated prior to offering you an individual recommendation for correction of prior breast surgery and an expectation of what is possible to achieve or correct.
Dr. Renee Burke
As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Burke uses the latest techniques and
technology to bring your vision to life. Her artistic eye and years of experience produce
stunning results that enhance your natural beauty.
Breast revision surgery can generally be performed through the same incision sites as your initial breast surgery. Specialized techniques and the use of tissue substitutes such as GalaFLEX® surgical mesh (or fat grafting) may be recommended if you lack tissue to cover an implant or require additional support for an implant.
This is generally an outpatient procedure, performed under general anesthesia. However, if it is combined with other procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck, it may require an overnight stay.
Breast Revision Surgery Recovery
Recovery depends on the extent of your breast repair. Patients are typically ready return to light activities within 2 to 3 days and regular activities within 2 to 3 weeks. Results can be long-term, but weight loss/gain, future pregnancy, or natural aging may impact the shape and appearance of your breasts.
